The 2014 Open Enrollment period for health insurance has ended. The 2015 Open Enrollment period begins November 15, 2014. You may still apply for coverage if you have certain life events that involve a change in your family or loss of other health coverage. You may also apply for Medicaid at any time. Senior Companion Program

In 2013, over 79,000 hours of in-home service were provided to seniors in need. The goals of the Senior Companion Program, which is administered by Blue Grass Community Action Partnership, include keeping seniors living independently in their own homes and providing relief to overburdened family members facing the demands of care giving. For more information on volunteering or receiving services, contact the Senior Companion Program at 1-800-456-6517 or your local senior citizens center.

Lead Teacher

Blue Grass Head Start is accepting applications for the position of Lead Teacher at Blue Grass Head Start Community Center/Day Care in Franklin County.   It is preferred that applicants have a BA in early childhood education, but will consider individuals with an AA who are willing to work towards earning a BA. Applicants should also have experience in teaching preschool children.  The position will involve teaching students years 3 to 4 and also assisting in the encouragement of parent involvement.   Those applying should possess a current driver’s license with a 5-year good driving record. The Head Start Program will pay for initial physical examination including TB skin test for the applicant selected for the position.  All candidates must pass an initial drug screen and if hired will be required to submit to random testing.   Applicant can not have been convicted of a sex crime or for child abuse or neglect per 922KAR 2:110 or any other felonies.   Contact Kelley McMichael at 502-227-1511 for further information. Community Developer (Jessamine)

Applications are being accepted for the position of Community Developer/Kynector in Jessamine County. The Cd/Kynector is responsible for coordinating & providing assistance for residents of the county who meet income guidelines. Good computer skills and excellent communication skills are a must. Knowledge of the local communities and other social service agencies in Jessamine County is preferred. Experience with grant reporting is helpful.

Weatherization Crew Leader

Contractors

Blue Grass Community Action Partnership is accepting applications for qualified HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing Contractors for an Approved Contractors List. Approved contractors will be responsible for the performance of electrical work, repairs and/or replacement of heating systems, water heaters etc. Work will be conducted on houses and mobile homes in Anderson, Boyle, Franklin, Garrard, Jessamine, Lincoln, Mercer, Scott and Woodford Counties. Services are funded by the Weatherization Assistance Program through the Department of Energy and Kentucky Housing Corporation for eligible applicants at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Each job will bid separately and awarded to the best bid submitted within the five day timeframe. You must be on the BGCAP Approved Contractors List in order to submit a bid. Senior Companion Program-Volunteers

The Senior Companion Program is an opportunity for persons age 55 and older who meet federal income guidelines to render assistance with activities of daily living to older, homebound adults. As Senior Companions, volunteers assist clients for 20 hours per week and receive a tax-free stipend of $2.65 per hour. This income is not reported as income and will not affect entitlement programs such as food stamps. Volunteers receive 40 hours of paid training initially and 4 hours of paid training each month in issues of importance to senior adults. If interested please call 502-848-8715. M/F/H/V, EOE and ETO.
