Lead Teacher Position
Blue Grass Head Start is accepting applications for the position of Lead Teacher at FranklinCounty Head Start. It is preferred that applicants have a BA in Early Childhood Education, but will consider individuals with an AA who are willing to work towards earning a BA. Applicants should also have experience in teaching preschool children. The position will involve teaching children 3-4 years old and assisting in the encouragement of parent involvement. Those applying should possess a current Driver’s License with a 5-year good driving record. Community Developer/Family Service Worker
Woodford County – Versailles, KY

Job Description:
Coordinates public and private resources and provides direct services to eligible individuals and the community. The Community Developer/Family Service Worker is responsible for coordinating and providing assistance to residents of the County who meet income guidelines and assisting the Head Start Family Services/Health Specialist in all phases of the social services, parent involvement and health program. Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct services/vouchers, referrals and case management to individuals and/or families to meet emergency needs and progress toward self-sufficiency.
  • Sets up and/or follows procedures to applicable funding sources in a fair and non-discriminatory manner.
  • Ensures that the poor and the near poor are not excluded from services which may be available through Blue Grass Community Action Partnership (BGCAP) and other agencies, and that understandable materials are made available to them, such as a “Community Resources Guide” and referrals.
  • Coordinates all requirements of Community Services Block Grant within the community, including mobilizing resources toward effective service delivery.
  • Ensures that all client household information is obtained for every client and entered into the appropriate client-based software programs, such as CASTiNET and IRIS, to meet state and federal program requirements.
  • Promotes BGCAP Agency visibility in the community through public relations including speaking to public and/or private groups about the services provided by BGCAP.
  • In the local center and community, acts as a resource person on emotional, social and health needs of children and their families.
  • Assists in implementing medical, dental and mental health components of Head Start.
  • Conducts Head Start home visits in coordination with lead teachers to ensure coordinated family engagement strategies with children and families in the classroom, home and community.
  • Attends monthly inter-agency meetings to explain the services provided by BGCAP, to seek new collaborative partnerships and to work with other Service Providers within the service region.
  • Conducts the designated community needs assessment surveys, family self-assessments/partnership and conducts meetings within the service region, and subsequently compiles the findings in a timely manner.
  • Recruits, trains and supervises volunteers.
  • Ensures and documents in-kind donations, including volunteer time, for match requirements.
  • Oversees the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program “LIHEAP” and other BGCAP programs as instructed within the assigned service area.
  • Responsible for recruitment of Head Start students in Woodford County.
  • Plans and hosts local fundraising events.

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Demonstrated work experience with social service programs.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, and pass criminal background check and alcohol/drug screening.

  • Experience air sealing and blown-in cellulose insulation preferred
  • Construction experience is a positive

Franklin County Head Start The Blue Grass Head Start Program is accepting applications for the position of Bus Driver/Assistant Teacher at their center in Franklin County. Senior Companion Program-Volunteers The Senior Companion Program is an opportunity for persons age 55 and older who meet federal income guidelines to render assistance with activities of daily living to older, homebound adults. As Senior Companions, volunteers assist clients for 20 hours per week and receive a tax-free stipend of $2.65 per hour.
